Our Documentation Fee: $499, the Same at Every Quirk Store

Every Quirk dealership in Massachusetts and New Hampshire charges the same documentation fee: $499. It does not vary by store, by brand, or by vehicle, and it is charged the same way on every sale.

$499Documentation fee
  • The same at every Quirk store in MA and NH
  • Included in our advertised vehicle prices
  • Charged the same way on every sale

The fee is in our advertised prices. The price shown on our vehicle pages includes the $499 documentation fee, so the number you shop against is the number the paperwork starts from. State sales tax and government title and registration charges are separate, and they are itemized on your purchase contract.

What the fee covers. The documentation fee pays for the work of completing your purchase correctly: preparing the title and registration documents, processing lien and payoff paperwork where it applies, completing the state and federal compliance documents a vehicle sale requires, and storing those records for the years the law requires us to keep them. It is a dealer charge, not a government fee, and because the work is the same on every transaction, the charge is the same on every transaction.

Why one flat fee. A uniform fee is the fair version of this charge. Nobody pays more because of the car they picked or the day they came in, and the fee is published here, in full, before you ever visit a showroom.

Documentation Fee Questions

Is the documentation fee a government charge?

No. Tax, title, and registration are government charges and appear as their own itemized lines on your contract. The documentation fee is Quirk’s charge for the paperwork work described above.

Is the fee different at different Quirk stores?

No. It is $499 at every Quirk store in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Is the documentation fee included in the prices on your website?

Yes. Vehicle prices shown on our sites include the $499 documentation fee. Government charges such as sales tax, title, and registration are additional and itemized on the contract.

Can the fee be waived or negotiated?

The fee is applied uniformly to every sale. Charging everyone the same amount is what keeps it fair, so it is not waived or discounted on individual deals.
